Vuokatti Safaris invites you to join us for this unforgettable Husky Adventure for five days! This tour offers more than just the excitement of sled dog driving. It is a discovery of Finland and its unique environment. Come and join us for a once in a lifetime husky adventure! During these five days you’ll get to see all of our friendly dogs and also get to know your personal dog team which will take you through beautiful winter forests. Day trips are 12 – 35 km. You don’t need to have earlier experience of dog sledding. We’ll give you driving and safety instructions and our professional guides will help and teach you new mushing skills along the way. Accommodation is Vuokatinmaa holiday homes.

DAY 1

Flight from your airport via Helsinki to Kajaani, transfer to your accommodation. Check-in and time to explore the resort.

DAY 2

Transfer to Vuokatti Safaris’ husky kennel which is located only 5 km from the heart of Vuokatti. We’ll go through the plan for the next couple of days and give you warm winter clothes (overalls, shoes, hats and mittens). We visit our kennels where you’ll meet all of our 80 huskies and we’ll introduce you to your dog team. You will learn how to harness the sled dogs and practice the skill of driving over a long distance.

Be swept from the excitement of the arena out into the peaceful and surreal winter forests. Learn how to harness the sled dogs and practice the skill of driving over a long distance. This trail is 12km long and you’ll drive it with traditional Björkis 2 person sled. You will be inspired by the peaceful motion and the beautiful scenery. Hot drinks included. After safari, transfer back to your accommodation. Duration of excursion 3-4h.

DAY 3

Morning at leisure. In the late afternoon transfer to the Husky Kennel as today you will be hunting the Northern lights with huskies. You will embrace the romance and beauty of the Finnish winter wonderland as you set of at night by dog sled. Powerful headlights cut through the darkness of the enchanted winter forest. As the forest gives way to the open frozen lake, on a clear night the heavens open up before your eyes hopefully offering up the spectacular scenery of the Northern Lights.

Relax by the warmth of the fire in our traditional Mongolian Yurt as your guide serves up a traditional “musher’s burger”, then step outside for another spectacular view of the night sky. Come and enjoy this unique adventure being driven by your personal guide as you are wrapped in the warmth of reindeer hides, or join in the driving, either way this peaceful relaxing tour will glisten in your memory for a long time to come. We drive 2 persons per sled. After excursion transfer back to your accommodation.Duration of excursion 4-5 hours.

DAY 4

Transfer to the Husky kennel from your accommodation. Today you will have your own
sled for the whole 35 km long trail which offers you a true sense of adventure as you enter areas less travelled. Be captivated by the scenic winter wonderland. You will also have opportunity to enjoy some delicious hot food and drink with your guide as you relax in our traditional Mongolian yurt by the warmth of the fire.

DAY 5

This day is for options. For example you can take a snowmobile safari or snowshoe safari, hit the slopes, go cross country skiing, rent a fatbike or spend the day at Katinkulta Spa relaxing. Please see optional excursions below.

DAY 6

Transfer to the airport and flight back home via Helsinki.

Prices incl. accommodation in Vuokatinmaa holiday apartments for 2 - 4 persons, airport transfers (Kajaani airport), linen & towels, final cleaning, 3 Huskysafaris mentioned in the program (one with snacks, one with dinner, one with lunch), transfers to the programs, full winter clothing (overalls, shoes, gloves and beanie).
